This weekend I’ve been spending time at a place called Four Quarters Interfaith Sanctuary in Artemis, PA. It’s been in existence for around 30 years and since its first year the founding folks have been building a stone circle on part of the property that continues each year to draw people to the land to help the “stones rise”.
I’ve attended a number of events over the years at Four Quarters, also known as Four Quarters Farm, and this year marks my first attending the Stones Rising program. Though I haven’t been here since it began on Wednesday, there are no hard and fast rules when folks need to be here for the various tasks that need to be completed…which I’m grateful for since I didn’t get in until Friday evening with my teen in tow and there was only the celebrating of the mythological Xanadu top be done…which we did by walking a circle along the stones that have already been raised over the last 29 years by many hundreds (or perhaps thousands) of hands before us, and then drummed and danced and rejoiced at the opulence of the evening’s perfect temperature and the peace of the natural world around us.
I have found so many ways in the last 24 hours to love this beautiful planet I call home….and now I turn to you, reader friend, and ask: is there some awe inspiring stone or body of water or land that you can direct your attention to for a time right now? Just be with this for as long as you can and let your heart mind rejoice that you have such a piece of wonder available to you.
