#11 – Love Your Work

I’ve been reflecting on a particular client I’ve had for 13 years this month. For the duration of my business endeavors I have always sought to strike a balance between having individual clients, working with a small business and having at least one bigger business that I do consistent work with, all those one off events are fun too though.

I didn’t go to school for business administration and never thought in a million years when I was growing up that I’d be a business owner, even though my father and his father were. I didn’t have any sense of what I really thought my life’s work was until I took a journey across the country at the age of 19, but I did realize what it was I came here to do, thankfully!

I’ve been supported by so many people both known and unknown to me throughout my life that even trying to imagine how many souls have carried me over the last 47 years makes my head spin….and I have carried souls as well, and tend to them still as best I can, and am honored to be able to do so.

Which brings me back to that client.

We are all each others employees/employers in one way or the other, whether we have our own business or are directly working with a company as a staff member. My question to offer for your consideration in your journal (or just on a random piece of paper if you don’t have a journal at hand) today is this: How does the love you have for your work come through in your work?

If you’re currently not feeling as much (or any) love for your work, then take yourself back to the beginning of your work journey to explore what may have happened as you went along on your path. Feel free to write about this as well.

Go!
