Every year brings new thoughts and inspirations to me and how to engage my community or contribute to its wellness in some way (I’ll credit this to having virtually none as I was growing up) and this year I got to overlapping my ideas with ways that were also FUN so I looked to the group I had started a couple years ago online for puzzle fans in my area to be able to trade their cardboard or other variated cutout art pieces when they had completed them.
“Puzzlers Unite” tended to be busier in the winter and less so once the weather warmed and folks to the out of doors and at some point I wondered if there was another way to grow the group and the interest in interacting so I decided to add gaming to our palette -so “Puzzlers & Gamers Unite” was born. Admittedly, action was still on the slow side (everyone’s BUSSSSY, I get it) but it felt like there was room to get more activity and suggestions for all sorts of “adventures” that fell under these two categories.
I reviewed what kinds of events I’ve hosted over the years it dawned on me that Game Night needed to be a thing – and now every Friday of the month folks join together for games, food and friendly exchanges from 6-9pm and boy am I happy as a clam to be hosting/organizing such gatherings.
Are you needing to be in your community more somehow? Does starting or growing something you’re already a part of appeal to you? Spend a bit of time reviewing your community or communities and determine if you’re loving on them as much as you want and if not, ask yourself why and what you may need to do to change this.
Time alone is nice, time with those you love can be more fun though, especially if it’s with those in your community who are older and that aren’t much longer for this planet.
More on being with the elderly next time.
