#13 – Love Your Work

Courtesy of Indivisible.org

I did not grow up in a particular politically or religiously active home. In fact, much of my youth was spent in physical and/or emotional pain from an inherited intestinal anomaly and more trauma than any child should have to endure, anywhere in the world.

Whether this or the way in which my home operated (or didn’t) affected how interested/open I was to learning about history, government or places outside of the U.S. – maybe it was the ancient and thoroughly deadpan delivery of lectures and endless reading assignments I couldn’t really relate to – that kept me disassociated from really grasping what all the centuries of fighting for land and colonization and rule in whatever form those who had the power chose had to do with me personally.

Turns out, all this time and all this warring and power tripping has plenty to do with me (and you) and how we’re living and what personal effect it has on us, in small or significant ways.

And it seems, in ways we can’t or just won’t see or comprehend.

So the work continues, whatever it is, be it political, spiritual, in your neighborhood or just within yourself…and today I invite you to spend at least thirty minutes diving into something that has felt important (and maybe even a little scary) to you that’s part of a work you’ve felt called to and perhaps haven’t known how to start.

It’s never too late to start a new work.
