I was looking through some old pictures recently, as my daughter and I both had birthdays in October. Every year around the time of another passing into a new age the energy of death looms large and I generally welcome it. I don’t want to hold on to anything that no longer serves me, but sometimes I question for too long whether something about my self *is* serving me.
There are many ways in which we have been conditioned to behave since our childhood, ways in which we may still be unaware of because when we’re very small we do not have the same discernment for determining whether a way of being that’s bestowed upon us – whether through those raising us or from the larger world around us – is actually sensible or not.
So today I will suggest that you spend a bit of time contemplating what it is about you that serves your highest self, the part of you that is kindest, most generous and loving, the innocent child that lives in you still. YOU know you best, and you are full of love and abilities only you have – so write them down, share them with a friend in celebration or maybe just affirm them with the one you love most.
Love your self and your self will love you.
*And as for those parts of you that are no longer serving you, write those down too and ask yourself what it is you need to do in order to shed that which is dampening your bright spirit. Make a plan for holding yourself accountable to grow out of the ways of being that are not in honor of your highest self.
You can do it. I believe in you.
